Trekking Permit and Fees

All visitors require a trekking permit to visit Nepal's interior regions not connected by major roads. Trekking permits are available from the Department of Immigration located at IMPACT Building, Maitighar, Kathmandu (Tel 4223590). Two photographs are required with the application. If you are trekking in more than one region, separate trekking permits are necessary for each region.

TREKKING PERMIT/FEE:

Trekking permit: A trekking permit is a must to visit restricted areas mentioned below. To visit normal trekking areas, no permission is required.

Restricted areas which have been opened for Group Trekking: The following restricted areas are opened only for group trekkers. And a trekking permit will not be issued to individual trekkers for such areas. The areas and required fees are as follows:

Lower Dolpo and Kanchenjunga: US $ 10 or equivalent foreign currency per person per week.

Manaslu: US $ 70 or equivalent foreign currency per person per week for September to November.

US $ 10 or equivalent foreign currency per person per extra day. US $ 50 or equivalent foreign currency per person per week for December to August. US $ 7 or equivalent foreign currency per person per extra day.

Humla (Simikot-Yari): US $ 50 or equivalent foreign currency per person for a week. US $ 7 per     person per extra day.

Upper Mustang and Upper Dolpo: US $ 500 or equivalent foreign currency per person for first 10 days. US $ 50 or equivalent foreign currency per person per extra day.

Gaurishankar and Lamabagar: US $ 10 or equivalent foreign currency per person per week.
Chekampar and Chunchet of Gorkha district: US $ 35 or equivalent foreign currencies per person for eight days for Chekampar and Chenchet of Gorkha district (Sirdibas-Lhokpa-Chumling-Chekampar-Nile-Chule) for September to November. US $ 25 per person for eight days for December to August.

Other Trekking Areas: Apart from the aforesaid areas, trekkers are required to pay permit fee as per the notice published in Nepal Gazette in US $ or other equivalent foreign currencies.
